Scavenger Hunt in the Parks

Join us for a scavenger hunt in your local regional park! We will connect virtually for 20 minutes at 1pm to let you know what native/non-native species you will be searching for! Then it will be up to you to put your detective skills to use finding these treasures! Use the iNaturalist app to identity the plant species, and we will check back in at 3:30pm to see who found the most treasures! There will be a prize for the best treasure hunter!

Who can join: Youth aged 12-18 and their families!
When:  1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
What are we doing: Come learn about how to identify native and non-native species, learn how to use the iNaturalist app, make some new friends, and enter for a chance to win a Grouse Mountain Family Pass (valued at over $150)!
Where do we meet: Virtually then off to whatever park is closest to you!
What do I need to participate?
  • Access to a smartphone (with Zoom and iNaturalist installed)
  • Access to a nearby Metro Vancouver Regional Park! Don’t have one? Any park will work but you may have to do a little more searching!
Experience Needed: None! We welcome any and all participants
How do I register: Via this Google Form
COVID Precautions: Participants will only be interacting with each other virtually! While off in their own regional parks, participants are asked to ensure they follow all proper public health orders and use their own risk assessment when out in public.
For any questions, comments, concerns, feel free to reach out to sofia@ctsyouthsociety.com or call the program coordinator at 604-562-0583.
